About SparkRx
SparkRx was made by Limbix, which Big Health bought in July 2023. It is a five-week, self-guided program based on cognitive behavioral therapy and behavioral activation, teaching skills such as mood tracking, planning rewarding activities, problem solving and mindfulness. It is meant as an add-on to care from a clinician and is offered through clinicians, employers, health systems and health plans; it is not FDA-cleared and was marketed under FDA's pandemic-era enforcement discretion. In a 2023 published feasibility trial (60 adolescents), depression symptoms fell in both SparkRx and a control app, with no significant difference between them. Limbix reported larger phase II results in 2021 only in press releases and a conference poster, where the main comparison with the control app was not statistically significant; results of its registered efficacy trial were not found. Its current availability was not confirmed.
