Overview

Description

Antisocial Personality Disorder (ASPD) is characterized by a pervasive pattern of disregard for, and violation of, the rights of others. It involves deceit, impulsivity, irritability/aggressiveness, irresponsibility, and lack of remorse, beginning in childhood or early adolescence and continuing into adulthood.

Prevalence

Approximately 0.2–3.3% in the general population; higher in forensic and substance-using populations.

Age of Onset

Behavioral symptoms begin in childhood with Conduct Disorder; full diagnosis not made until age 18.
