About Oar Health
Oar Health is a US telehealth service for alcohol use. After an online assessment, a licensed clinician can prescribe naltrexone, an FDA-approved medication that reduces cravings and the reward from drinking; it is shipped to you, and you can aim to cut back or quit. Oar also sells a compounded naltrexone mint (Clutch) that is not FDA-approved. Reviews report a one-time $50 assessment fee and $297 every three months (about $99 a month); Oar does not take insurance, though some HSA or FSA plans may pay, and a prescription can be moved to an outside pharmacy that bills insurance. It operates in most US states, only where its clinicians are licensed. Naltrexone itself is well studied for alcohol use disorder, but no published study of Oar's service was found. It is not a detox or withdrawal service.
