Overview

Description

Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS), also known as Willis–Ekbom disease, is a neurological sensorimotor disorder characterized by an irresistible urge to move the legs, usually accompanied by uncomfortable sensations. Symptoms are typically worse in the evening or at night and are relieved by movement.

Prevalence

Affects approximately 2–3% of adults with clinically significant symptoms, more common in women and in middle-aged and older adults.

Age of Onset

Can occur at any age, including childhood, but most often begins in middle age.
