Overview

Description

Female Sexual Interest/Arousal Disorder (FSIAD) is characterized by a lack or significant reduction in sexual interest and/or arousal in most or all sexual situations. It encompasses both the desire and arousal components of sexual functioning in women, which are often intertwined.

Prevalence

Prevalence estimates range from 8–19% in community samples, though fewer meet full criteria when distress and duration requirements are considered.

Age of Onset

Can be lifelong or acquired; onset may occur at any point in adulthood.
